Devlog #002: The First Glimpse of Yugopunk
dev : 30 Jul 2025

We’re really excited to finally share the very first public look at Yugopunk.

This is our first showcase video, and while it’s still rough in many places, it shows the direction we’re heading. If you haven’t seen it yet, the video highlights a bit of everything: exploring forests, driving through abandoned towns, exploring dark dungeons, a glimpse of early farming, base building, and even some basic co-op in action. There’s also a functional UI visible throughout—though it’s still a prototype version, and we’re currently polishing that up into something a bit easier on the eyes.

As with everything at this stage: it’s a work in progress. Things will evolve, and probably break, and then evolve again—but that’s all part of the fun, right?

What We’re Working On

Right now, our main focus is building out the game’s core systems while keeping the world rich and reactive. Here’s a quick update on the areas that are currently under construction

  • Crafting & Farming: We’re expanding the crafting tree and improving how farming works. You'll be able to grow, build, and survive in a more meaningful way.
  • Vehicles – We currently have three: a car, a motorcycle, and a bicycle. We’re exploring upgrade options and damage systems to make them more interactive and integral to survival gameplay.
  • NPCs – We’ve started conceptualizing the game’s first enemy NPCs. Boss-type enemies are also being planned as part of that longer-term development.
  • UI – The UI is functional but very much in flux. It’s getting steady improvements to readability, feedback, and overall flow.

What the Video Actually Shows

While it’s still early, this video gives a sense of the tone we’re going for—bleak but alive, grim but weirdly beautiful. You’ll get a glimpse of:

  • Forests, meadows, and early biomes (with more planned)
  • Abandoned towns, villages, and building interiors
  • Dungeons (like old churches and ruined homes)
  • Farming, base building, and small co-op gameplay moments

There are plenty of missing pieces, but what’s there is starting to feel like Yugopunk.

Why Now?

We wanted to share this early look to start building a community around the development of the game—and to give players a chance to share thoughts while there’s still time to shape things.

What’s Coming Next?

Here’s what’s currently on the roadmap:

  • More UI improvements
  • Additional vehicle features (upgrades, damage model)
  • Expanded crafting and base systems
  • First NPC concepts
  • Environmental and biome variety updates
